Here, I’m again with the new topic. This topic is all about one of my favorite book “The day I stopped drinking milk” by SUDHA MURTY.
In this book Mrs. Murty shares her life stories which is way too inspiring and the lessons which she shares is worth reading. If I share my views about this particular book then I must say that once in lifetime all should read this book. It teaches us integrity, morality with her magical witty stories. Her specialty is the way she writes it and describes it with her simple language without any ego of what she is, how she is, what work she does and most importantly the position she holds. Despite everything she is what she really is- The real Sudha murty.
So here are the few lessons which is close to my heart and I learnt it and also I’ll keep it with me for the rest of my life.
One step should never take the credit for the end result.
In this line what she meant is that if we help a person, then we must not take the credit for what they achieve. We are just one step to their success and not whole of it. They are successful because they worked for it.
Money comes with expectations and spoils the delicate equilibrium of social work.
I.e. when money comes into picture, the expectations of people increases and with expectations it spoils the real happiness of the social work done by the others. So when social work is there one should not include money related matters into it.
Only diseases and not honesty and integrity are passed down to the next generation through genes.
This line says a lot and it’s close to my heart. And its really true that if someone is honest that doesn’t mean that even their family members or their next generation will be honest too. Only diseases and not honesty and integrity are passed down to next generation through genes.
No one likes a talkative person
There are people who are so much talkative that they don’t see whether other person is interested in your talks or not. Over and above they are not interested in listening to others. They just suffer from verbal diarrhea and because of that other people around them become more patient
When you get a gift, don’t think of its price because it is the thought that is more important.
I guess I don’t need to write a brief about it, as everyone knows and values the gift and the feeling and not the price of the same.
It’s important to know the history of your country.
I know I know what you all would be thinking!!! History is not everyone’s subject of interest. But you should be aware about it. The heritage and the legacy our ancients left for us, and how it is famous worldwide.
If a person is not comfortable with the help given to him, it becomes a lifelong burden for him to carry.
May be at times people do not feel comfortable having someone who helped them stay around or meet them unexpectedly. It becomes burden for them to live with that help.
Sharing is an important quality that binds people, and society itself survives on sharing.
Do u remember that saying: “sharing is caring. ” Yes, exactly that’s what this line says about. Sharing plays an important role in life. In fact, society itself survives on sharing.
A fire cannot be extinguished with another fire. It is only water that can make difference.
The way anger cannot be extinguished with anger, same way fire cannote xtinguished with another fire. For anger patience works and for the fire only water can make the difference. So try to be calm and work without ego or attitude.

Mother’s love.
MAA the word is enough. She will risks her life for the shake of their child’s life.
Money can be earned in life but confidence is easy to lose and very hard to gain back.
Money is everything but confidence is at the top. It’s all about confidence and yes it is very hard to gain once it’s lost. So, in life make sure you give priority to confidence over money.
Only children tell the truth and are the real judges of one’s talent.
Without any doubt I agree to this. They without any bias tell you the truth and they will tell you whatever is there In their mind. Because they don’t hide or feel jealous. They are pure hearted person you will ever come across in life.
Money can’t buy everything.
There is a limitation to human power and achievements, and that even with money you cannot help everyone. You cannot substitute many things in life with money.
Money changes a person completely.
Very few people can withstand the lure of money and they are difficult to find. Wherever there is money, people like to take advantage of the situation and maximize their return.
If we keep collecting material things, it becomes a burden to the next generation.
Collecting material things doesn’t make any sense. May be those things will be important for us but to the next generation it won’t be useful or meaningful. They will see it as a burden of past and nothing more to it. It’s better to use it and then pass it to the one who is in need or passionate about it.
Be patient and recognize people’s intentions.
Observe more and react less. Be patient for the things. In today’s life its important to recognize people’s intentions. Everyone is not your friend and you cannot judge who is helping you and who is harming you. Better you take your time to recognize them and chose wisely.
Always stand up for yourself and follow your heart.
Always support and be with your own self. Even if other people do not always agree with you or like you or your thoughts.
Money is like a honeypot.
Wherever there is honey, human beings, ants and honeybees either want to suck it or hoard it for themselves.
Lastly,
When a person becomes a compassionate leader like Mahatma Gandhi, Gautam Buddha, Martin Luther King Jr or Abraham Lincoln, they do not just belong to one country. They transcend man-made boundaries and are recognized as leaders of the world.
These are the lessons which I learnt from this book. Hope you too found it interesting…. And it will play an active role in your life as well.
