Hello folks!!!!
Welcome back!!!!!!
Today I’m going to write about Importance of Unplugging. But before I start let me tell you all that I know nowadays people aren’t much attracted towards reading a lot so I’ll keep my blog as much short and sweet as you all like it….
So coming to the main point, what you all think or understand about unplugging from social media??
From my point of you it’s like
A good small VACATION for your heart and mind!!!!!
I know there are many people who don’t agree to this but personally I do feel so that people should take a break from social media for sometimes
Here are some reasons for the some
1. Social media is more of a reel than real
2. Attention is more important than anything else
3. People get jealous from others’ progress
4. Social media pressurize oneself to do more than others
5. it’s a rat race
6. Affects mental health
So now some facts and figures for the same….
•84% of cell phone users claim they could not go a single day without their device.
• 67% of cell phone owners check their phone for messages, alerts, or calls — even when they don’t notice their phone ringing or vibrating.
• Studies indicate some mobile device owners check their devices every 6.5 minutes.
•88% of U.S. consumers use mobile devices as a second screen even while watching television.
• Almost half of cell owners have slept with their phone next to their bed because they wanted to make sure they didn’t miss any calls.
• Traditional TV viewing eats up over six days (144 hours, 54 minutes) worth of time per month.
• Some researchers have begun labeling “cell phone checking” as the new yawn because of its contagious nature.
“Studies show that we actually need weekends and night off to disconnect and recuperate from the stresses of work.”
Now my point for why unplugging is important
1. Unplugging helps remove unhealthy feelings of jealousy, envy, and loneliness.
Do you know people do get jealous over small small things as well. I have seen people feeling bad when someone is doing well in his/her life. And I am not blaming anyone for it … this emotion in itself is takes place.. A human tendency you know ….
People do feel lonely when they see their friends hanging out with others or posting pictures and everything. So unplugging will help them remove all these things and make them feel better about themselves.
2. Unplugging combats the fear of missing out.
Fear of missing out!!!
What thoughts come in your mind when you read that sentence??
With the pandemic going on and before & after locking and unlocking people are going through psychological disorder of FEAR OF MISSING OUT. (FOMO)
Our social media streams are filled with everything. From friends enjoying out and eating various dishes to greeting nature with friends or family or with closeones. From buying new stuffs to using various gadgets and doing new new things and improving themselves. Even from going to gym and posting the videos of their workouts.
With all these things you will feel the fear of missing out and you will end up disturbing your mind. So better you power off your devices and spend sometime with yourself rather then giving importance to them.
3. Solitude is harder to find in an always-connected world.
Solitude means the state of being alone, especially when you find this pleasant.
People who know me would also knowing that how much I like to be alone and how pleasant I find it. Solitude doesn’t mean that the person is depressed or is an introvert or anything similar to it. Solitude is for ones own self. And with the increasing technology and our surrounding filled with noise and other things its good to find your own space and to be in that space.. Solitude helps you to find peace and it also helps you to focus on your meditation.
4. Life, at its best, is happening right in front of you.
Yes, defiantly its true that life is happening right in front of you… no past no future. Only present and that too in front of your eyes. You know what, past gives you negativity sometimes and future always makes you worry. Unless and until you aren’t positive enough to accept both of it you will not be happy and satisfied with it and people are busy in capturing movements that they forget to live it with their eyes open. They are so busy in going live or posting pictures or videos that they miss the real opportunity to live it, enjoy it.
5. Unplugging promotes creation over consumption.
Most of over time is spent on two categories:
1) Creation
2) Consumption
you must be wondering that how and what is the meaning of these two words certainly, we consume more rather then creating meaning by we use(consume) more technology in playing games, watching videos or series or movies and forget to create something more out of technology.
If we will unplug then we will be able to find out our hidden talent and our creativity. So yes unplugging promotes creation.
6. Technology addiction can only be understood when the object is taken away.
We never know how much addicted we are unless things are taken away from you or in other words when we stay away from that objective. Do you all remember the time when the internet was shut down for some days in Gujarat when patidaar andolan (patidar reservation agitation )was going on back in 2015. I still remember my classmate saying that she hasn’t charge her cellphone since 3 days as she never used the cell in first place due to no internet connectivity. And how she is eager to get back the internet as she isn’t feeling good as she was unable to check her social media and other platforms.. See this is how addiction rules your mind. It just frustrates you like anything.
7. Life is still about flesh, blood, and eye contact.
No matter how many times or how frequently you meet virtually or talk to your friends or family member over a phone call or videocall. The real happiness is meeting them personally face to face. That eye contacts no technology can beat. Those hugs, those laugh, smiles can never take place virtually and this things everyone would have experienced during lockdown time period and after unlocking of lock down.. there is something entirely unique and fantastic about meeting face-to-face.
So come out from you mobile, laptop, tablet screen and see how happy our surrounding is…

Lastly, even the Co-founder of Instagram Mike Krieger once asked by Reporter “Why he doesn’t post anything on Instagram?”
In answer to the same he said that he doesn’t like the world to see what he is doing and he wants to keep his life private but that doesn’t mean he don’t use it at all. He added that he uses the feature of story which stays just for 24 hours so his followers can see him.
Concisely,
For your betterment, I recommend you to unplug yourself from social media for Peace, living actual life, developing your creativity and intelligence, And improving your physical and mental health.
I know technology has many benefits as well and i never deny to it !!! I too use technology but all I’m saying is that do take a break from it and enjoy your time being “YOU” because that’s what matters at the end of the day.
